This wedding was a designers dream. Last year we created a gorgeous wedding for the bride’s brother, in the Grand Ballroom at the Wilshire Beverly Regent Hotel. ( See blog entry)

Instead of having a second beautiful formal wedding one year later, the bride had other ideas. A habitual stalker of the wedding blogs, she fell in love with the style of a rustic elegant barn wedding. The “buzz words” for this wedding were to be “ Creative, Elegant, Rustic, Imaginative and Unique”. The only problem was to find a conveniently located barn large enough for 320 guests in Los Angeles. The Book Bindery warehouse space became the perfect solution because of the rustic wood bow-truss ceiling.

Guests were greeted with a collection of framed family wedding photos displayed on a rustic farm table. Above the table succulent filled panels created in the couples initials.

The ceremony room was surrounded by clusters of lighted custom-made grapevine ball chandeliers. The largest being over three feet in diameter.

The ceremony, set in the round, called for a unique floating canopy created by a framework of driftwood. Simple and elegant garlands of white orchids and hanging glass teardrop votives cascaded over the frame.

The riser was circled with the beautiful antiqued wood vineyard chairs.

A succulent garland accented the table underneath the canopy.

The riser was topped with a white Flokati rug and surrounded by burlap covered planters filled with bundles of Paper Birch tied in raffia, hanks of rope, Magnolia and antique Hydrangeas.

After the ceremony, guests were led down a hall to the escort card table.

Birch logs were notched for the escort cards radiating around a sculptural tower of Bear grass, Gardenias, antique Hydrangeas and grapevine trunks.

 

The cocktail area was draped off with burlap curtains to conceal the reception area.

The antique iron bar was converted into a farmers market of apples and custom made preserves with the couples logo.

Groupings of lounge furniture were placed for guests to relax, complete with pillows sporting the “F+J” logo.

The drapes were pulled back to reveal the magical rustic ballroom.

The backdrop of the bandstand was White Paper Birch logs backed by a Birch tree-patterned foil wallpaper by Cole & Sons flown in specially from London.   The couples Logo was embossed in the center of the metallic champagne and bronze dance floor with clusters of iron coach lanterns hung above.

The long communal tables had raw linen cloths with wood runners down the center filled with Mercury glass votives and a collection of vases filled with coral Peonies, Ranunculus, roses, Mini-callas, and gardenias.

The rustic flatware and rattan chargers completed the elegant and rustic tables.

The round tables had birch trees with hanging glass teardrop votives planted in a moss garden with clusters of flowers in mercury glass.

The cake table base was a beeswax finished trunk of Teak wood accented with succulents. The perfect foundation for a one of a kind candy petal wedding cake.

We were so honored to be asked to create such a beautiful and magical environment for your fantastic family’s special day. We felt like it was our own sister walking down the aisle.  Our Heart felt best wishes for Frannie and Jordan on their new life together.
