Eggs-tra Special Baby Shower

We love an idea or item to inspire a party.

This beautiful Pacific Palisades back yard baby shower was created after seeing the favor, an egg-shaped kitchen timer, inscribed with “About to Hatch.”

We decided a white and egg-yolk yellow color scheme would look great against the deep green carpet of grass.

We used Teddy Bear Sunflowers, Skyline Roses, Dinner Plate Dahlias and Millet in white ceramic containers.

Inspiration – Still Life Photography

This is the first entry of a monthly series based on inspiration.

Some of you may not know that I am studying photography with Tracey Landworth. She is an excellent special event photographer, as well as a highly qualified teacher.
I have always admired Flemish paintings. The deep rich color and the use of natural directional sunlight are so beautiful.  I recently revisited the film on the painter, Vermeer, Girl with a Pearl Earring.  Which inspired me to try to capture the lighting and moody feeling of the film.
Luckily, my good friend and jewelry designer extraordinaire, Erica Courtney, helped me explore the genre and brought along some of her stunning Tahitian Pearl jewelry.

Freeman / Felder Wedding Beverly Wilshire Hotel

This wedding was very special to us.  We have known the bridal couple throughout their courtship and were honored to be asked to create the decor for their very special day.

The ceremony was held in the ballroom of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.

A series of Gothic arches created a covered walkway trimmed in dark green foliage and white orchids.  The bridal couple made their way down the  aisle to a custom made chuppah.  The sculptural tree frame was  covered with hand tied orchids which suspended the Hydrangea trimmed fabric canopy.
After the ceremony, while the guests were enjoying the cocktail hour, the ballroom was transformed by re-purposing the arches, placing each one over a table with illuminated silk lanterns.

The table centerpieces were either tall glass vases of orchids, roses, hydrangea and Monstera leaves or a low trio of  pavé roses topped with ivory pillar candle hurricanes. Around the base of the centerpieces were a collection of shimmering candles and antique mercury glass.

The cake was positioned under the remaining arch and was displayed with beautifully framed wedding photos of the brides and the grooms parents in front of their cakes.

Irene Boujo and Mindy of Mindy Weiss Party Consultants saw to every detail and were a pleasure to work with.
We would like to thank Jon Solano Photography,  for capturing the moment so beautifully.

Shreck Birthday Party and Screening

We recently created floral decor for a children’s birthday party in Montecito. They were screening the new film ‘Shreck Forever After’.  We had so much fun creating these buffets and centerpieces.

The bases of the buffet arrangements were lime green Spider Mums, Poppy Pods and Galax Leaves.  In the centerpieces we  two shades of orange roses and orange pincushion protea.
