Dylan’s Secret Club Garden Bar Mitzvah

We recently worked with one of our favorite families on a Bar Mitzvah for Dylan.

Dylan’s grandparents have the most beautiful tropical garden that is entered by crossing a large koi pond.

Using the D for Dylan Theme, kids were directed to the tennis court for games, while the adults enjoyed cocktails in the garden.

Dylan’s Bar Mitzvah project or tzedakah was to start a charity call S.O.S. ,Songs of Shelter, raising funds for L.A. Family Housing.

Using one of the gardens more whimsical art pieces, we placed the green bird sculpture in a mosaic bed of lime green fruits in the pond’s rowboat.

We brought in this sleek modern furniture to complement this contemporary home and sculpture garden. The adults enjoyed a substantial appetizer hour complete with sushi bar , so they could dance the night away later.

The tennis court was transformed into a fun dance club.

We made tall buffet florals with white French tulips, Kermit mums, lime green Fuji mums and variegated tree ivy. The In and Out Hamburger truck supplied dinner to the kids both young and old.  For adults, food stations of made-to -order quesadillas and a quartet of dinner salads. The stations were placed on Town and Country’s new Cielo Blanco tables. These  are really cool because you can customize them with different table top inserts.

For dessert we opened a very popular S’more station with dark and milk chocolate.

The Bon Puf, gourmet flavored cotton candy cart, was a big hit with flavors like salted caramel and chili mango.

Golf Theme Bar Mitzvah at Sherwood Country Club

We want to share with you our decor for this great Bar Mitzvah. This was our first golf themed party which made it so fun for us.

We love carrying  a theme through the party.  This creative logo crest formed the beginning of the invitation and was carried through the entire party including the golf cart driving valet and staff uniforms.

The invitation was silk screened on a  Plexiglass circle resting on a bed of custom painted Astroturf.

The Kippot table was covered with a photographic grass print linen with the gift box in the form of a putting green.

Our big challenge was to transform the club from traditional East coast, Old School Country Club to hip young club for the adult cocktail hour. If you are not  familiar with the club, this is normally a traditional dark library filled with books, gold framed oil paintings and traditional furniture.

The crest was transformed in ice to a double Apple Martini loge centerpiece for the martini bar.

The golf tee-like  bar stools surrounded the  cocktail tables which were covered with photographic grass design linen topped with wheat grass filled golf ball planters.

The raw sugar “sand pit”  table held the escort cards on custom printed golf tees.

For the adult tables we created giant pavéd golf balls with Cameron’s name resting on giant golf tee vases.

Matte green sequin linens, iridescent chargers, opalescent bowl votives and golf club-like  flatware  made for simple, modern and elegant tables.

Ruling over the light-changing dance floor and stage, Cameron, Paris and the Check One 2 Dancers were decked out in their swanky golfing togs.

Color themed argyle knee socks were a big hit on the dance floor.

The escort card table was re-purposed to become Cameron’s ” Sweet Spot” candy buffet with golf and color themed candy displayed in golf ball pails.

The parting favor was a golf ball mug filled with “Hot Cameron Cocoa Mix”  for a sweet reminder of a fun-filled evening. Congratulations, Cameron.

Basketball Bar Mitzvah for Michael at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey

We recently created decor for Michael’s Bar Mitzvah party. I wanted to share some of the many fun details of this stylish party. The escort cards were made to look like game tickets.

Guests were greeted as they walked in with a giant letter M that we covered in mock-crocodile surrounded by floral basketballs.

The kids were led into an locker room with activities coordinated by aj Steinberg.

The table linen overlay was basketball leather.  We created these whimsical, yet elegant centerpieces using copper tubing, basketballs, pincushion protea, Mokara orchids and Monstera leaves.

We created three long tables with low centerpieces to surround the dance floor.

Guests could enjoy viewing the dance floor from the lounge area complete with custom pillows.

We created a graphic scoreboard frame for the video screen using the clients last name for the stadium.

The Bar Mitzvah boy couldn’t have been more popular making his entrance with the Laker Girls Cheerleaders.

The challah table and candlelighting piece was made with miniture basketballs.

Check out this  fantastic cupcake buffet with this incredible cake from The Butter End. The basketball portion actually rotated with an internal motor.  So Cool!

B’Nai Mitzvah at Temple Judea

Twice as fun, this B’nai mitzvah was a riot of color.

A turquoise, orange, purple and white color scheme contrasted with the neutral interior of the social hall.

Seating was designated by escort cards featuring the brother and sister.

Inside the hall, we created two different styles of centerpieces. Tall vases of tropical Heliconias and orchids, filled with tinted water, soared above the table.

Lime green Kermit mums formed a floral collar to support the kids logo.

The second style of centerpiece had purple Vanda Orchids wired to six foot tall Lucite rods arching over head.

The kids logo was embossed on the custom designed white dance floor to recall the invitation.

Favorite candies in the party colors were featured at the candy bar buffet.

” The Sweet Life” , printed on the Candy favor bags, says it all for this terrific family.

Jack at The SLS Hotel

We created a cool club look in blue at the SLS hotel . Many times we have great source material for inspiration from the invitation.  Jack’s invitation was understated, only having a letter “J” and the color blue to work with.

We carved out letter “J’s”  and wrapped them in Silver Mock-Croc. and branded the party with them.

The cocktail pieces were whimsical silver curly lucky bamboo, black Galax leaves and gardenias.

The bar piece was a cool sculptural glass vase with a sphere of white roses.

The centerpieces were floating silver J’s in rectangular LED lit glass vases with silver tipped succulent collars.

The black matte bases sat on mosaic smoked mirror rounds.

Succulent topped mercury glass votives filled with blue LED light provided a Vegas style club look.

Napkin rings of smoked mirror mosaic held the blue iridescent dupioni napkins.

We used a seamless glossy black dance floor with  black club chairs and blue suede rounds beds for the kids lounge

Lucite containers filled with candy were lit from below for a unique presentation

Juicy Couture Bat Mitzvah at the W Hotel Hollywood

This was one fantastic party for Jamie Clare who happens to have the same initials as Juicy Couture.
So, we took the logo, the colors and Hollywood location and ran with it!

Guests were greeted with a red carpet entrance with a custom Step and Repeat backdrop. In place of velvet ropes and stantions we created chains of giant Juicy Couture charm bracelets.

A Joan Rivers look alike greeted guests as paparazzi shoved in to get the perfect photo.

Guests wrote notes of congratulations on a pink rhinestone studded dress form which Jamie took home.

For the buffets, we were inspired by the Juicy Couture crest to create four foot tall moss topiaries of the Scottie dogs. The dogs had large pink crystal diamond eyes, pink rhinestone collars and monogrammed heart dog tags.

The center of the ballroom was designed with a large round glossy white dance floor with a custom embossed gold monogram in the center.

Three large photos behind the stage were framed with hand-made sculpted paper flowers in white and pink flanked by two gogo cages with floral caps.

The centerpieces for the adult dining tables were a collection of giant floral perfume bottles and floral pillows topped with crowns.

Around the base of the bottles, we placed clusters of gardenias and heavy crystal votives. The white leather booth tables were fitted with matte pink sequin linens.  Following the Juicy Couture look, we set the table with gold flatware, gold beaded glass chargers and gold rimmed crystal.

A Café au Lait dinner plate dahlia was placed on each blossom pink iridescent dupioni napkin.
Even the Challah table was “blinged out” with a pink rhinestone base.

The kids had a special area of stunning new lounge furniture covered in white patent leather with soaring golden Manzanita trees draped with giant pearls and spheres of roses overhead.

The candy bar featured Jamie’s favorites, Oreo cookies, pink candies and black licorice Scottie dogs.

As always, it was great working with Evie Steinberg and many thanks to Michael Brannigan for capturing the fantastic evening so well.

Eddie’s Bar Mitzvah at the LUXE

This handsome Bar Mitzvah was at the LUXE Hotel in Brentwood.
We created a series of black risers with mirror tops for the escort card table.

The cards were placed in a small silver cube card holder. I love how the card says “SIT”.  It’s always a challenge to come up with something creative, simple and cool.

Then we placed our sculptural candlesticks on the table and topped them with succulent spheres and blue Vendela roses spheres wrapped with glossy black lacquered Galax leaves

The centerpiece was a sculptural floral table lamp with a hammered silver neck, embroidered black fabric lampshades and blue Vendela rose trim.
The tables were draped in platinum dazzle linens with black lacquer chargers.  We brought in black onyx water goblets, mercury glass votives and clusters of gardenias to finish off this stylish table.

Blue Ultrasuede lounge furniture and black curved booth seating was enjoyed for the kids area lounge.

The lounge florals had smoked glass cube vases filled with blue LED lighting, Lucky bamboo and black lacquer painted handmade Galax leaf rosettes.

Bar Mitzvah Party Planner Extraordinaire , Evie Steinberg,    and  the very talented, Special Event Photographer,   Susan Bordelon made creating this event a joy.

evan at the Skirball Cultural Center

The design of this cool Bat Mitzvah was based on a minimalist contemporary graphic of a cherry blossom. Using white as the base color, splashes of pink, blue and green accented the sleek canvas.

For the place card table, we sculpted a letter “e” for Evan and covered it with turquoise moc-crocodile. We then framed the “e” with pavéd lime green Kermit Mums.

The centerpieces were inspired from the cherry blossom graphic.
Table top embellishments included, custom made turquoise moc-crocodile rounds with matching napkin cuffs, blue mercury glass votives and frosted glass cubes.

One of the stand-outs of the evening was the custom designed two level dance floor, complete with hot pink velvet VIP Rope. The upper level lighted dance floor was popular all night.

The kid lounge  featured  new  glow chairs and stand up cocktail tables.

Yet again, it was a pleasure working with Evie Steinberg, Bar Mitzvah planner extraordinaire.

Jill’s Bat Mitzvah at Brentwood Country Club

I wanted to post this one right away. This is a great family and I had so much fun creating a second event for them. A few years back, their son was Bar Mitzvahed in the same room. ( See website under Bar Mitzvah, Club Cool.)
So, we were challenged to make a totally different feeling for Jill’s party.
After looking at the invitation, we knew it was all about hot pink, black and crystals.

It started out with her name in pavéd hot pink carnations with a mirror ball dot over the letter “i” to match the crystal dot on the invitation.
In the ballroom we designed a  custom dance floor in black trim, a hot pink border, black center and her name and XOXO logo in hot pink.

The crystal candleabra centerpieces had custom black candles and were filled with pink orchid and roses.  We even matched the napkins to the new black and white striped lounge furniture. After a fun filled evening the guests were treated to a “Jillybean” candy bar.

Working with party planner, Evie Steinberg and talented photographer, Susan Bordelon made creating this event a joy.

Bar Mitzvah at the SLS Hotel

We recently created a fantastic party environment for a Bar Mitzvah at the super cool SLS Hotel.

The Philippe Starck designed hotel was an  inspiration from the crystal chandeliers on the website to the Light panels in the Foyer.

This was the second Bar Mitzvah we have done for this family and it was a pure joy. The roman numeral VIII for 13 years old was the logo for the party.  Evie Steinberg coordinated the event and kept the evening rolling as only she can.

A big thanks to Susan Bordelon for capturing some awesome images of a phenomenal  evening.
